Esperanza
Rising is the story of a wealthy Mexican girl whose
privileged existence is shattered when tragedy strikes,
and she and her mother must flee to California.
Forced to work in a migrant labor camp, Esperanza
must learn to rise above her difficult circumstances
and discover what she's truly made of. Set in the
turbulent 1930's, and based on the popular book
by Pam Muñoz Ryan, Esperanza Rising is
a poetic tale of a young girl's triumph over
adversity.

Director Henry Godinez, a
Chicago Children's Theatre Artistic Associate,
directed our Inaugural Production of A Year With
Frog and Toad. Henry is the Resident Artistic
Associate at the Goodman Theatre, where curates
their biennial Latino Theatre Festival and directed six
seasons of A Christmas Carol. He serves as
Artistic Director of Northwestern University's
Theatre and Interpretation Center, and is the
co-founder and former Artistic Director of Teatro
Vista.

Mexican-American Police
Organization Golf Outing
The Mexican American Police Organization (M.A.P.O.),
a not-for profit organization, invites you to our golf
outing. Proceeds from the golf outing will go to
MAPO's Youth Fund, a fund created in 2000 for
activities and improvements of our community's
children. With the help of our sponsors, MAPO began
building the Youth Fund with fundraisers such as the
MAPO Golf Outing, an event that helped increase our
annual scholarship awards with recipients each
receiving $1,000 to attend classes at the university of

The ENLACE Leadership Institute at Northeastern

Cohort of ENLACE Fellows. The ENLACE Fellows
Program: Higher Education Leadership for a

Society is designed to prepare promising
Hispanics
with the skills and experience needed to

by enrolling them in the Master of Arts in

Illinois University.
Beginning January 2009, the selected ENLACE
Fellows will begin a 2-year program
consisting of two
courses per semester, once a month seminars and
similar activities. The program will cover
tuition and
professional development seminar materials. The
selected Fellows will be responsible for all
mandatory
fees, textbooks, and partial cost for a
required ten-day
International Study Visit.
ELIGIBILITY
The ENLACE Fellows Program is open to persons
